International Women's Day is celebrated on March 8th, 2007. It is a day which both marks the struggle for women to be deemed equal in all aspects of society- and celebrates the fantastic progress which has been made to date.
In our affluent western society - it is easy to feel as though our mothers and grandmothers have won the fight. We are entitled to equal pay; we do have the opportunity and choices to embark on careers of our dreams. We can have our job, home, family, gym membership, day spa, cleaner, lunch with friends. We must remember that a truly emancipated person is able to move freely in the world, acknowledge his or her rights and responsibilities, and have a foothold on the earth, which is equal to her friend, neighbour or partner in both a physical and psychological sense.
At Escape4Girls, we acknowledge that women all over the world are still struggling for that freedom - remember the power of women when they are drawn together - and celebrate it!

Juggling Career and Family
Every working mother's dilemma.

Every mum has been in this position, whether her work requires her to wear a suit or just attempt to get out of her pyjamas before midday. If you are, or have ever been one of these, don't despair - try a couple (or even one) of these tips:
1. Use that "do not disturb" button on the phone - for yourself to have a rest!
2. Decide that your PJs are actually the newest and cutest designer outfit and wear them as long as you want.
3. Actively investigate what type of help is available for you from organizations like Family Day Care - you might be surprised just how much assistance is provided for working mums.
4. Book a weekend away - and take it! The sky won't fall in just because you aren't there to hold it up... (it might look a little messy when you get back, but hey...)
